Gas spring for a desk flap (secretary desk)

A desk flap (secretary or bureau flap) folds down into a horizontal writing surface. Pull gas springs above the hinge make it open slowly and keep it from crashing down.

Tips
  • The flap rests on its stop when open: choose "Stay open when fully opened".
  • A heavy flap needs two springs; one per side keeps it straight.
  • Check the hand force: up to about 20 N feels easy.
